MORE STEREOTYPES AND LIES SPREAD ABOUT SOUTHERN REPUBLICANS, THIS TIME CHRIS MATTHEWS' SPEWS LIES THAT WE WANT "SECESSION AND NULLIFICATION." What decade, in fact, what century, does he think we live in as southern citizens? Most of my generation, the x'ers, here in the south have a college education. We are primarily Republican, for reasons of social issues and fiscal, however, were not living in 1700's. He is really insulting southern Republicans, helping procure a stereotype of Republicans as backward, ignorant, uneducated, and plain red neck. This does not describe the Republicans, the "religious right," nor Tea Party members. Were not racist, as their stereotype goes, and as a matter of fact I am a Cherokee with African American family and ancestry, yet I am a southern Republican. How many years will we suffer the stereotypes and idiocy of the uninformed vote voices of Democrats?---------------------------------------
ADDING COMMENTS BY A PERSON ON FACEBOOK "PAPPADAVE": Someone should remind Matthews that the "3/5ths of a person" was the idea of the NORTHERN States so the South couldn't count slaves for apportionment purposes and get representational parity with the North in the newly-formed Congress. He should also be reminded that the 13th Amendment was passed by a GOP-dominated Congress over the objections of the Democrats (as were the 12th and 14th). Somebody needs to remind him of WHO it was that de-segregated the military services (Eisenhower) after Democrat Woodrow Wilson had segregated them, who it was that first enforced Brown vs Board of Education (Eisenhower), who it was that allowed the 1964 Civil Rights Act and the 1965 Voting Rights Act to pass (Republicans) over the filibusters by Democrat Senators, who it was that instituted the vaunted "War on Poverty" that has so far cost us multiple TRILLIONS of dollars without reducing poverty by a single percentage point and effectively destroyed many black families and put lots of the poor of all races on the road to perpetual dependency on government handouts.
